Radiant.Earth is growing in San Francisco and searching for a Geospatial Software Engineer to help build its unique platform. You’ll work with our small, but growing tech-savvy team in San Francisco. You will design, develop and test geospatial software infrastructure and functionality to be used within the web platform GIS / big data systems, APIs, and portal services, as well as produce or update the corresponding documentation. You work quickly but thrive on quality and are passionate about what you do.

Preferred Start Date: May 1 st , 2018 (negotiable)

Qualification

You:
● Fall asleep at night watching Cosmos episodes on Netflix
● Have at least 3 years of professional experience
● Have the ability to prioritize projects, communicate results and work with a diverse team
● Comfortable with agile development methodology
● Don’t mind documenting your work
● Can think on your feet and wear many hats
● You get cloud technologies; the good, the bad, the ugly

Your Skills:
● Strong geospatial database design and development skills
● Experience with open source relational databases including PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL
● Experience developing, deploying, and running Docker containers
● Professional experience as a software engineer
● Expert knowledge of Big Data design, development, and algorithms (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, and MongoDB)
● Experience with Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers, Geo Server, Map Tile servers, OpenStreetMap, GDAL, ArcGIS, GeoJSON, and GeoTIFF
● Experience with satellite imagery, raster and vector data processing
● Solid Git knowledge
● Experience using AWS and their APIs (e.g. RDS, CloudSearch, CloudFront, S3, EC2, SQS, SES, EMR, IAM, ELB, Route53, ElastiCache, etc)
● Experience with programming in Java, Python, Flask, RESTful APIs

Bonuses:
● Development with Scala or NodeJS experience a huge plus
● Experience in Machine Learning and Computer Vision such as working with TensorFlow, OpenCV, and scikit-learn a major plus
● AWS Lamda and serverless development experience a plus
● Managing public facing APIs
● Contributions to the open source community
● Prior experience in a startup environment
